drive 4.5 hr (249 km) through southwestern Algarve. Visit Sagres and Cape São Vicente, then Lagos for seafood. Choose Albufeira’s beaches or Faro’s historic old town with Chapel of Bones. Return to Vilamoura for overnight stay.
After breakfast, depart Vilamoura for a 3-hr (211 km) drive through Alentejo’s cork forests and olive groves to UNESCO-listed Évora. Explore the Roman Temple and Chapel of Bones, then enjoy farm-to-table cuisine. Overnight in Évora.

drive 2.5 hr (123 km) from Évora to Estremoz to admire its white marble architecture, then continue to Marvão, a 8th-century cliff-top fortified village. Explore its ancient walls and enjoy panoramic views.

drive 4.5 hr (223 km) from Marvão through Serra da Estrela. Explore Castelo de Vide’s Jewish Quarter, the stone village of Sortelha, and Belmonte, birthplace of Pedro Álvares Cabral, before arriving in Guarda.

drive 3 hr (160 km) from Porto along the central coast. Stop in Aveiro to see canals and moliceiro boats, explore Buçaco Forest and Palace, then continue to Coimbra’s medieval streets and historic university.

drive 5 hr (279 km) from Coimbra to Lisbon. Visit Conímbriga ruins, Fátima sanctuary, Batalha and Alcobaça monasteries, Nazaré cliffs, and the walled village of Óbidos. Conclude your journey with an overnight stay in Lisbon.
